Salford Young People’s Initiative

During its 10th Birthday Year The Lowry will be launching a major new initiative, delivered in partnership with the Salford Foundation.  This project, which is focussed upon Salford Young People, aims to build upon the success of previous community engagement projects, such as The Lowry on Walkabout, by providing longer-term opportunities for volunteering, work experience, skills development and employment within The Lowry.  Aimed at Young People not currently in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) within the City and those at risk of falling into this category, the project will create a portfolio of work placements, apprenticeships and jobs across the whole of The Lowry.

Having been a major catalyst for physical regeneration, it is fitting that, during the 10th Birthday year, we continue to grow and develop our regenerative role at a community level in Salford and through this project we will work closely with the City Council to help tackle issues of social exclusion and worklessness.
