National Youth Theatre at The Lowry
National Youth Theatre The Lowry is a partnership established in the North West to encourage local people to join and engage with NYT, the largest and longest established youth theatre in the UK. A large part of the partnership is to encourage new writing by young people, working with professional writers and directors.
The results of the NYT The Lowry Theatre Makers Course are performed at The Lowry annually in our Easter Bites season.
This year’s Easter Bites festival took place from Thu 3 – Sat 5 April, with a gritty and powerful performance of ‘Harm’s Way’, written by new young actor Zawe Ashton and directed by Tessa Walker.
The Lowry also hosts auditions, productions and outreach projects as part of our partnership with NYT.

“I learnt to have more confidence in myself and my writing. The leaders were great, the people were great, the drama and writing was great.” Cheridan aged 15 on the Young Theatre Makers Course, 2005
