Earthwalk - 2005
Inspired by The Lowry exhibition, Nightfall, pupils from St Philip’s RC Primary School, Salford, worked with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and artists Vin Cahill and Nicola Lynch to explore the school’s local wildlife and produce their own nature art box. Two year 5 classes journeyed to Kersal Moor near their school on an ‘Earthwalk’, discovering the wildlife that was all around them, taking photos, writing poems and looking for beasties to inspire their art. The pupils then worked with Vin and Nicola to produce nature inspired clay work and small scale natural sculptures that went into their own individual nature box. Their work was then displayed alongside the Nightfall exhibition in The Lowry’s galleries.
