Worktown
From January to July of this year we have been documenting the life of the city and people of Salford using photography. We have called the project Worktown in keeping with a similar 'Mass Observation' project made in Bolton in the 1930s.
Professional local photographers, Paula Keenan and Jon Purcell have worked with local residents and community groups to create pictures that capture the different sides and spirit of Salford – its people and places.
The finished photographs from across the city will be bought together to create a spectacular exhibition in The Lowry Galleries from Sat 30 September - Sun 19 November. Pictures will also serve as an archive for people to see what Salford was like in 2006 for many years to come.
The photograph to the right is an example of one taken on the project.
