Exhibition Sponsorship

Artistically, our galleries have enjoyed much critical acclaim and remain popular with visitors who visit from across the country. In addition, we commission exhibitions from today’s most exciting contemporary artists, placing Lowry’s art in a 21st century context. Our ambition is to establish the galleries as home to the finest single-artist collection in the UK, rivalling the best in Europe.

Laura Knight and the Theatre (2007)
This exhibition will be at The Lowry and then move on to Nottingham Castle Museum. Sponsorship of this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to be associated with The Lowry and the critically acclaimed artist Dame Laura Knight. The nature of the exhibition lends itself to a range of corporate events from dinners and parties to creatively structured lectures or talks on a range of themes. The project also provides an excellent backdrop for press events. The sponsor will be given an exclusive private view of the exhibition as well as the opportunity to open the exhibition to the general public.

Jem Southam (2007)
A key figure in British photography of the last 20 years, Jem Southam has been enticed from the South West by The Lowry to create an exhibition of photographs of the coastal areas that LS Lowry loved in the North West and North East. His beautiful 1.5m x 1.25m photographic works are available for purchase at £3000 each and are ideal for either corporate or personal collections. By selling ten works The Lowry will cover the costs of this exhibition sponsorship.

Exploding Pictures (2007)
Takes a number of famous Lowry paintings and places them alongside paintings, newsprint, archival material, documentary photographs, historical objects, ‘talking heads’ video from the period they were painted, helping us to understand why Lowry did what he did. The exhibition will also include digital X-radiograph photography of the paintings, light photographs and infra red reflectography to look at underlying paintwork, showing visitors what differentiates an original Lowry painting from the print they have at home. This show will attract significant regional and broadsheet national press.
