What can we do in the Galleries?
Family Corner Family Corner has been totally refurbished especially for children under five. It’s got space to draw, read and take part in play activities. There are exciting textures, colours, shapes and mirrors to inspire creativity and a gallery space to display their works of art.
Looking at Art Looking at art provides a great opportunity to spend time together as a family exploring what it means to be creative. At The Lowry there’s loads to get inspired by and we’ve given you a helping hand by making some simple games to play. Pick up the Exhibitions Guide at the Galleries desk. In the Galleries you’ll find a very special artist: LS Lowry, his odd characters and distinctive places can spark ideas and stories.
To help you get started you could join one of our free ten minute family talks every Sunday at 1.30pm.
Art Detective Trail Be an art detective and follow the picture clues on our trail as you explore the exhibitions in the Galleries. Pick up an Art Decectives Trail from the Galleries Desk.
How much time will we need? You don't have to see everything in just one visit. Thirty minutes to one hour could be enough. Taking a long look at a few pictures is usually more enjoyable than seeing too many too quickly. Why not copy a picture so that you can have a really close look? There are pencils and paper available from the Family Corner on The Deck that you can bring into the Gallery.
