Family visits to The Lowry
Family fun at The Lowry has gone barking mad with our new friend Jack. We found him in a picture painted by LS Lowry that you may be able to find in the Galleries (to give you a big clue, its called Group of People). Weve named him Jack after a dog that artist Harold Riley found in Salfords Hankey Park and couldnt resist drawing. Jack has sniffed out all the fun things for families to do at The Lowry , and weve put them all here for you.
Jacks got his paws mucky in workshops and left trails and tours to follow; hes found his way into the galleries and theatres and then lapped up his lunch. See what youd like to join in with , theres definitely something for everyone.
Discovery Kids love The Lowry, its bright orange staircases, sloping blue floors and purple and glass walls but it also has lots of secret corners waiting to be discovered. On the Hide and Seek Trail you can go on a journey of discovery, and its free. Pick up your copy of the Hide and Seek Trail at the Information Desk. You can also join one of our Family Building Tours on the last Sunday of every month and Bank Holiday Mondays at 10.30am and 11.30am.
If you enjoy a good adventure, then Jacks Packs are just the thing for your family. The rucksack contains games, puzzles and activities that will help you to explore the building and inspire discussion on every level. Choose from three different packs and collect yours at the Information Desk when you arrive. You will be asked to leave a small deposit.
This is what one person said about Jack's Packs:
"It made the visit to the gallery much more interactive and FUN, totally different to what I was expecting a visit to the gallery to be like. I will definitely be bringing my kids here more often!"
Handy Information The Lowry is an accessible building with sloping floors and lifts to all levels. Pushchairs can be left with Jacks Buggy Guarding Service. Please ask at the Information Desk or Box office.
Baby changing facilities are available directly below the entrance foyer, in both the Ladies and Gents toilets near the cloakroom.
Gift Shop Jack has made his mark in the shop and features on lots of our pocket-money sized souvenirs. There is also a range of LS Lowry games and books that are great inspiration for active heads and hands.
Find gifts and toys for the budding artist or the young ballerina, you might also see something that you like too!
