The Chefs
David Morgan Executive Head Chef at The Lowry
Prior to working at The Lowry I was Senior Head Chef of The City of Salford where I achieved the Vegetarian Society's 'Seal of Approval', the first local authority in the UK to receive this prestigious award.
As Executive Chef I am responsible for a large team of chefs. The team produce quality food for The Lowry Restaurant, The Terrace Café Bar and The Quays Bar. We also have an extensive range of Conference and Banqueting menus.
Chris Watson-Gunby Head Chef The Lowry Restaurant
I started my career as part time commis chef at The George hotel in Stamford, Lincolnshire at the age of 15. I soon realised I had real passion for food and wanted to build my career as a chef, this decision came from eventually working full time at the George hotel, which at the time had 2 rosettes.
During my time at the hotel I learned how a large kitchen and brigade worked especially when holding onto rosette status. It was a fast paced kitchen with long hours to manage.
After 5 years I progressed further up the ladder in various other hotels and restaurants across the East Midlands, before I moved to Manchester and joined the Steven Saunders team at The Lowry.
I have been at The Lowry for seven years, over this time I have developed and worked in various areas of the kitchen – banqueting and restaurant being the main areas.
I am currently Head Chef at The Lowry where I work with an experienced team who are dedicated and passionate about the product we produce consistently on a day to day basis.
I create all restaurant menus including special occasions and gourmet evenings in line with the experienced team I have helped to develop. We use seasonal and fresh produce for all our menus and also try to source local products where possible.
We keep our menus simple, but are consistent with good preparation and excellent presentation.
