Northern Broadsides

A Comedy of Errors

Tue 19 April - Sat 23 April

This event has passed.
Prepare yourselves for a truly delightful comic double bill as Northern Broadsides cheekily pair Shakespeare’s delightful comedy with a hilarious new play from Alan Plater, Sweet William.

Two sets of twin brothers are separated in a shipwreck. Mistaken identities, confusion and chaos litter the road to their ultimate reunion in Shakespeare’s riotous tale. Then pay a second visit to see Sweet William, in which Shakespeare goes drinking with his mates Fat Jack, Peter the Painter, Mac the Wrestler and Nicholas the Weaver on a wet night in 1599.

This boozy comedy, filled with music and song, is a wonderfully irreverent take on Shakespeare’s social life.

Revel in two cracking plays guaranteed to give you a great night out!

“As with all Northern Broadsides’ productions, there is a real generosity of spirit and simplicity in the way the play is presented.” The Guardian

“Shakespeare made plain - delivered straight from a simple, undivided heart.” The Observer
