Once upon a time, in a land far away, a merchant sees a deserted castle and takes refuge from a storm.
He is tended by invisible forces but when he repays this kindness by stealing a rose, a fearsome Beast appears and exacts a terrifying forfeit.
This spectacular new production has been created by BRB’s award-winning director David Bintley and designed by Philip Prowse, who created the company’s sumptuous Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. The original score is influenced by the classics, jazz, Broadway and the music of India and written by Canadian composer Glenn Buhr.
