Verdi turned to Shakespeare’s greatest comic character as inspiration for his final masterpiece, which is based primarily on The Merry Wives of Windsor. With its dizzying pace and youthful spirit, it’s a rich feast of an opera, fully worthy of the abundant personality of its hero.
“This Falstaff will warm your heart, uplift your spirit and captivate your ears and eyes.” The Sunday Telegraph
Sung in English.
Conductor – Richard Farnes/Tecwyn Evans
Original Director – Matthew Warchus
Revival Director – Peter Relton
