To celebrate Sir Frederick Ashton's centenary year, Birmingham Royal Ballet are performing this captivating romantic comedy filled with love and laughter.
Lise is in love with local farm lad Colas, but her mother Widow Simone is determined that she should marry well - even if the likely candidate is Alain, wealthy but with little in the way of looks or sense!
This ballet is a masterpiece. Ashton mixes impressive classical dance with pantomime, morris, maypole and even clog dancing.
