Opera North
Peter Grimes
Wed 8 November - Sat 11 November
This event has passed.
A boy – an apprentice to the fisherman Peter Grimes – dies at sea. At the inquest, Grimes has to answer for the death. Was it an accident or was it something worse?
Although it is rooted in a small fishing town on the east coast of England, Britten’s astounding, sea-swept opera has a universal theme: that of an outsider at odds with his community.
This vivid production is an utterly absorbing, emotionally compelling experience.
Conductor – Richard Farnes
Director – Phyllida Lloyd
Sung in English.
