Art & Design Primary School Workshop: Lowry 3D - Specialist Clay

Be inspired by the LS Lowry collection; spend a day developing specialist clay skills and techniques to produce a finished artwork.  This workshop uses air-hardening clay so that the finished pieces are ready to take back to school at the end of the workshop.

How do you create a 3D piece of artwork?
What can we learn about specialist clay techniques?
What processes do we go through to create a 3D artwork?
What can we learn about LS Lowry?
Can we interpret LS Lowry’s ideas in our own 3D work?

Learning Objectives
• To learn specialist clay skills and techniques with a professional ceramicist.
• To use Lowry’s paintings and drawings as a starting point to generate ideas for pupil’s own work.
• To interpret their design in to a 3D artwork.
• To learn about the processes of working with clay.
• To evaluate and discuss their own and each other’s work.

Learning Outcomes
• To learn more about the life and work of LS Lowry.
• To develop skills to work with clay.
• To gain confidence in working in 3D forms.
• To produce a finished artwork.
• To evaluate and discuss their work and the work of others with greater confidence.

For up to 30 pupils.
Times: Full day workshop only.
10am - 3pm
