The Comedy Of Errors Reviews...

Manchester Evening News

Daily Post

Following sell-out shows and rave reviews, the internationally acclaimed all-male company Propeller, led by Director Ed Hall, return to The Lowry. Renowned for combining a rigorous approach to the text with an exciting, physical aesthetic to engage its audiences’ imaginations and bring fresh understanding to classic plays, this is Shakespeare rediscovered and reinvigorated.

The Comedy of Errors

Shakespeare’s most farcical comedy, and also his smartest. Two sets of estranged twins, separated at birth, find themselves in the same city 25 years later with hilarious consequences. A series of mistaken identities, assumed personas, and wild mishaps bring a family crisis - so complicated that time itself loses the plot - into heart warming focus. Fortunately the audience is always one step ahead…

Richard III

Arguably Shakespeare’s most villainous King, we watch in horror and delight, unable to resist Richard’s cruel wit and dark humour as he murders his way to the throne. This is a hugely entertaining and diabolical adventure that tells the story of one man’s journey to heaven, then back to hell.

Sat 12 March - Manchester United vs. Arsenal, kick-off 5.15pm

Press Quotes

(on The Comedy of Errors) “packed to bursting with sight-gags, sound-gags and a riotously sexy, testosterone-charged devil-may-care … Everyone’s on song, not an opportunity for mirth is missed. It’s an unmitigated hoot.” *****
Dominic, Cavendish, The Daily Telegraph

“See the blissfully entertaining Errors or this bloodiest of Richards alone, and you will have a great night, but see them in tandem and you get a sense of a world driven mad by violence.” ****
Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
