Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid
Once upon a time, in the depths of the ocean, a mermaid princess was singing and a young prince was drowning…she saved him…he kissed her…I love you, you love me…the mermaid exchanges her tail and sublime voice for two legs, but the prince, alas, marries another!
Following the hugely acclaimed Beauty and the Beast (2002) and The Snow Queen (2007), Teatro Kismet return with The Mermaid Princess, a captivating new adaptation of Andersen’s The Little Mermaid; a haunting tale of a young mermaid who sacrifices all for love.
Combining music, dance, physical performances and ravishing costumes, Kismet’s simply staged and brilliantly inventive style will transport you from a shipwreck in the depths of the ocean to a prince’s castle, and from a sea witch’s cavern to a cloud of sea mist lifting to the skies. Visually enthralling, thrilling, sensual and unforgettable, this theatrical fairytale is guaranteed to capture the imagination of both children and adults alike.
