Elsie is born in a Yorkshire pit village in 1936 and will never know another way of life. Gilly is the first woman in her family to go to university, enjoying every ounce of freedom the 70s has to offer.  Frankie learns everything she can about sex from Judy Blume; in 1989, who didn't?

This is a story of the horrors of moving back in with your mum in your 30s, of finally appreciating the best piece of advice your grandmother ever gave you and of extraordinary family secrets held across the generations.

Three Generations of Women is an original play inspired by real experiences shared by women around the UK.

Dramaturg – Kirsty Housley
Director – Ria Parry

 Baby Friendly Performance | Sat 26 March | 2pm

This baby-friendly performance is open to everyone, but is particularly appropriate for anyone who would enjoy the opportunity to attend a grown up production during the daytime, with their babe-in-arms. Come along with baby in tow, safe in the knowledge that babies, feeding and napping are all welcome. Changing facilities are available in the toilets nearest the Studio.

The Studio is home to an extended family of up and coming theatre makers, companies, and mavericks from the North West and beyond.

This award-winning space presents shows with a sense of adventure, from touring shows through to brand new productions created through our Developed With The Lowry and Associate Artist programmes.

Find out what’s on or get a flavour of what goes on in The Studio by watching this short film.
