The Lowry is now offering an exciting new programme of workshops specially targeted for the Early Years, based around the work of LS Lowry. These new workshops have been developed alongside Early Years children and teachers to cover different aspects of the foundation stage curriculum.

All the workshops are delivered by our highly experienced freelance artist team and include time in our galleries and education space.

To book please call our dedicated schools line, please have this information ready to help with the booking process.

  • The name and address of your school/group.
  • The name of the teacher/leader organising the visit.
  • Daytime contact telephone number and email address.
  • The date(s) and preferred time of your visit.
  • The exact numbers of pupils, teachers and accompanying adults with your group.
  • If you have any special access requirements for individuals in your group.

 All workshops must be booked at least two weeks in advance and dates are based on availability. Please have several suitable times in mind when you call. Cancellation requests must be made in writing at least two weeks before your visit, later notification will result in payment of 50% of the workshop costs.

Once you have made your booking you will receive a confirmation letter and information about your visit. Please check the details carefully and ring us if any changes are required.

£100 for max of 20 children (£80 for Salford Schools/groups)
£170 for max of 30 children (£150 for Salford schools/groups)

Jack’s Journey

Meet Jack the dog and take a journey with him through  Lowry’s paintings to meet some of his friends. Visit mill and market scenes, go shopping and take a steam train to the seaside.  Explore themes and characters in the paintings through story, actions and song.

A drama based workshop.

Mini Sculptors

Explore Lowry’s landscapes, with help from Jack the dog. Look at all the different kinds of buildings and the people who live and work in them. Learn about colour mixing, and using paint create your own house or factory to take back to school.

A visual arts based workshop.

Felt Artists

Explore a range of Lowry’s paintings focusing on colour, shape and composition.

Learn a simple technique to felt wool, then using shapes from the paintings, create your own felt picture to take back to school.
