Irish President Visits The Lowry
The President of Ireland, Mrs Mary McAleese will visit The Lowry tomorrow (Thursday 22nd February) with her husband, Dr McAleese, The Ambassador to Ireland, Mr Edward Barrington and Mrs Barrington.
They will be received by the Mayor and Mayoress of the City of Salford, The Lowry's Acting Chief Executive and the Leader and Chief Executive of Salford City Council.
During their visit, Harold Riley, founder patron of The Lowry and Chairman of the Irish Abroad will present them with sketches of the Manchester Ship Canal. The Lowry's Acting Chief Executive will lead the party on a tour of the building and present the President with the book "Making The Lowry."
During her two-day visit to Manchester, the President will launch the Irish Festival and the Irish World Heritage Centre Web-site. On Friday 23 February, she will receive an Honorary Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and attend a Chamber of Commerce luncheon in her honour.
