Exclusive Jewellery for a Landmark Building
Stylish silver jewellery inspired by The Lowry, has been specially created to celebrate its prestigious accolade, Building of the Year.
Manchester designer Gilly Langton was commissioned by The Lowry to create an exclusive jewellery range that reflected the contemporary architecture of the building. Gilly's powerful and elegant hand-made designs are based on the geometric shape of The Lowry's distinctive entrance canopy.
Her philosophy is to design simple pieces that are pure and uncomplicated with tactile appeal. Each bold piece has been well considered for its form and function when placed upon the body. The first phase of the collection includes 3 different pairs of earrings, 2 styles of neckpieces and a pair of cufflinks.
Lindsay Brooks, Curator of the Lowry Collection commented: "We were delighted with Gilly's inventive and ingenious solutions to the brief. She was obviously impressed by the building and her jewellery distils our stunning architecture into sleek and stylish pieces. It unmistakably says The Lowry."
Gilly's techniques consist of basic jewellery and silversmithing processes - soldering, casting and forming. Working predominantly in silver allows her the freedom to create large-scale minimal pieces. She has also created an exclusive jewellery collection for the British Museum.
This exclusive jewellery range will be on sale only from The Lowry with prices ranging from £25 to £100. For jewellery purchases, please visit The Lowry's Gift shop or call The Lowry switchboard on 876 2020 & ask for the Tower shop.
