The Wizard of Oz
Susie Blake (better known as Bev Unwin, Shelley’s mum in Coronation Street) swaps The Street for the Yellow Brick Road to The Lowry where she will star as the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz, from 15 December 2004 – 9 January 2005.
Susie comments: “As a regular attender at The Lowry, I’m thrilled to be performing in their production of The Wizard of Oz. I absolutely love the story and am really excited about being the Wickedest Witch in the North West. It’s perfect for me as I‘ve always wanted to fly and enjoy working with children.”
The Lowry’s Box Office is already boasting record takings already meeting 1/5 of its sales target before the announcement of this star name.
For the second year running Pele Productions in association with The Lowry bring their magical combination to the Lyric theatre, after 2 years of sell-out pantomimes in the Quays theatre. Yet another spectacular Christmas show is guaranteed and with all the magic and music of the film you certainly won’t want to click your heels and go home.
Based on the classic Judy Garland film, all the famous songs and characters are here - Dorothy, the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion, singing such evergreen hits as We’re Off To See The Wizard, Follow The Yellow Brick Road and of course the unforgettable, Over The Rainbow. This is classic Christmas entertainment for family audiences at prices that won’t spoil the goodwill of the season. Tickets range from £12 to £22 with family tickets from £28 - £68.
Wizard of Oz Family Teas are available in the Terrace Café Bar, £24 for a family of 4.
Take a trip with us over the rainbow and down the yellow brick road to Oz and we’ll show you a place where dreams really do come true.
On Tue 21 – Fri 24 & Sun 26 - Thu 30 December, Families can make the most of a visit to The Wizard of Oz by dropping into The Lowry’s FREE festive art activity before the performance, 12.30 – 1.30pm.
