As the nights draw in this winter, a vast array of comedy talent is set to lift the autumn blues and thaw any frozen funny bones. A host of big names, old favourites and emerging comedians are set to leave audiences rolling in the aisles.
Four of the finest comedians to emerge from last years Edinburgh Fringe Festival share one fantastic bill in Edinburgh and Beyond, only days before Jo Brand brings her razor sharp wit to cut a side-splitting swathe through her pet hates. But as well as considering the joys and perils of advancing years, John will perform songs old and new and give a sneak preview of his forthcoming feature film, It's Nice Up North. Guests include Goole Concreter and aspiring after-dinner speaker, Dave Tordoff.

The star of Father Ted, My Hero and The Stockholm Syndrome, returns to stand-up with his hilarious new show. Turning 40 this year, and terrified, he laments his lost youth and tries valiantly not to become a ranting curmudgeon. With wide-eyed wonder, surreal flights of fancy and acute observations on the follies of man and the modern world, this is Ardal’s most personal show yet.

Despite her wealth of television work, including Channel 4’s Jo Brand Through The Cakehole, Jo still prefers performing live. Sussed, polemic, deceptively droll, with razor-sharp perspective, subjects close to Jo’s heart, such as feminism, fat people and chocolate, remain a staple of the show – as do pet hates including supermodels, sad blokes, politicians and thin people, to name just a few. Supported by comedian Andy Robinson.

The Guv’nor is back with a fantastic brand new show and he’s even more opinionated than ever. Expect quick-fire ad-lib interaction and a heady brew of British Thinking and Common Sense Reasoning from the take-no-prisoners host. You’ve seen him star in the hilarious An Audience with Al Murray – The Pub Landlord (ITV1), now is your chance to witness “the joke telling machine gun” (The Sunday Times) in action.

Pam Ann - Flying High!

Direct from a sell-out in London and supporting an arena tour with Cher, the infamous trolley-dolley Pam Ann is now extending her routes across the UK. This uniformed vixen is a cunning mixture of social satire and larger than life inter-continental lampoonery. She pokes fun at economy class, dishes dirt on other airlines and terrorises with her safety demos.

Stewart Lee – 90s Comedian

New stand-up from the co-writer of Fist of Fun, Alan Partridge and Jerry Springer - The Opera. Temporarily driven from theatre by the efforts of The Daily Mail and Right Wing Christian Evangelicals, Lee has returned to stand-up. His summer 2004 Edinburgh show drew unprecedented praise and although he expects to reap the critical backlash this year, come see the 90s comedian weave more of his trademark interminable whimsy and make up your own mind!

Jason Byrne – The Lovely Goat Show
