DRAMA AT THE LOWRY
SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2005

Tender romance, sinister thrillers and hilarious comedy sit side by side in an assorted mix of exciting drama shows this Autumn/Winter season.

Highlights include the first post-London visit for Alan Bennett’s award-winning National Theatre hit, The History Boys and Nigel Havers in Daphne Du Maurier’s classic, Rebecca, plus theatrical legend Sir Timothy West, with the award-winning Nichola McAuliffe, both starring in the tense new thriller, National Hero.

For the first time since a brief visit during City Of Drama in 1994, world-renowned Canadian theatre wizard Robert Lepage will be here to astonish, leading his own company Ex Machina in the unmissable six-hour epic production, The Dragons’ Trilogy, a once in a lifetime event.

Songs originally performed by Manchester’s own The Smiths are imaginatively re-arranged for the stage in the music theatre show Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others and live music is used to wonderful effect in the retelling of Cornish love story Tristan and Yseult. A new version of last year’s hugely successful Round The Horne… Revisited will end the year on a hilarious high.
