Folk Music At The Lowry August – November 2005
A magnificent selection of traditional and contemporary folk music is a prominent feature of our autumn music programme, with legendary names and brand new talent in equal measure.
The gifted Kate Rusby returns with the refreshing style that has won her and British folk music so many new fans. From one Radio 2 Folk Award winner to another, Karine Polwart performs songs from her acclaimed debut album Faultlines. As if that was enough, we still have timeless performances from Ralph McTell and Peggy Seeger to look forward to.

Wed 31 August
After their hugely successful visit two years ago, they're back – a fresh programme of music and humour, with the accent firmly on Lancashire. There’ll be tall tales, silly stories, well crafted accompaniments and moments of true pathos, The Tinkers and the Bolton Bullfrog perform separately and then come together for a rousing finale.
Only to be missed if you don't like laughing.

Cherish The Ladies are unique, an all women traditional Irish band, with a great love for and understanding of traditional music. This is apparent in each and every performance, where jigs, reels, polkas and slip jigs are delivered with superb musicianship and singing. Earlier this year they performed for President and Mrs Bush and their guests at the White House.
