COMEDY AT THE LOWRY January – April 2006
Comedy fans will be laughing all the way to the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal as The Lowry hosts more of the finest comedy talent around. Representing stand-up comedy are Jo Caulfield, a comedienne of growing repute after glowing reports from the Edinburgh Festival and TV regular Dara O’Briain, who finds fun in naming the things we love to hate.
Since the brochure went to press, The Lowry has booked two new comedy shows - both Perrier Award nominees, Jeremy Lion and the curiously titled Dutch Elm Conservatiore, who both appear in The Studio.
Bounding from our television screens is the BBC Three comedy The Mighty Boosh, with the madcap Noel and Julian making the decision to meet their audiences face to face and challenge them to a ferret duel. As if that isn’t startling enough, the massive Irish box office hit I Keano is the comedy musical retelling the story of Roy Keane’s walkout from the 2002 World Cup, setting the warrior Keano in the ranks of an ancient legion! The Lowry’s two week run is the first and only current UK date.
