POP MUSIC AT THE LOWRY January - April 2006
Music fans have plenty to look forward to as The Lowry stages an assortment of shows from some of the most popular pop and rock artists of the last 40 years to the roof raising Sing-A-Longs. Returning after sell out concerts in previous years are GaGa, providing a fitting tribute to Queen, the legendary Wishbone Ash celebrating over three decades in the business and The Blues Band, whose popularity means that they will now perform for two nights.
Representing two very different eras in British pop music are Salford’s own The Hollies and 80’s idol Howard Jones. Both promise to offer fans old and new a night to remember with timeless favourites sitting side by side with songs from recent years. One of the surprise highlight’s of summer festivals around the country were The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain who need to be heard to be believed with an original take on some classic songs including Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights and The Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go.
