THE LOWRY WINS BUSINESS TOURISM OF THE YEAR AWARD

Manchester Tourism awards 2006

On Thu 2 february The Lowry, a world-class visual and performing arts centre and established conference and event venue, was awarded the Business Tourism of the Year award 2006.

At a glittering awards ceremony, held at Manchester International Convention Centre (MICC) in front of over 400 guests, host Vernon Kay presented Tony Smith, The Lowry‘s Head of Corporate Relations with this prestigious award.

Tony commented: “We’re delighted to win this award which reflects our commitment to our clients and the variety of services we provide. The versatility of our facilities and wide range of corporate entertainment opportunities is a major factor why clients use us and continually return. Our unique building means we have also established ourselves as a major filming and photographic shoot location.”

The Lowry also demonstrated the success of recent marketing initiatives. Their redesigned website now includes a 360 degree presentation of corporate spaces, which has seen an 80% increase in terms of initial source of bookings.

The 2006 Manchester Tourism Awards are organised by Marketing Manchester, the Tourist Board for Greater Manchester and supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency. The Awards aim to recognise and reward the high level of dedication to tourism throughout the Greater Manchester region. The Business Tourism Award was sponsored by British Airways Connect.

The Lowry will also go on to be entered into the England's Northwest Tourism Awards 2006, to be held in October this year.
