South Asian Events at The Lowry, Salford Quays May - August 2006

The summer months at The Lowry offer more scintillating South Asian dance and music from Milapfest. The National South Asian Youth Orchestra returns to the region after a debut performance at The Lowry in 2002 and, having since become internationally renowned, touring throughout the UK and abroad. Sonia Sabri’s quest to present the Kathak style of dance in a new light results in her brand new piece, Red weaving the traditional art form with current inventions and ideas. A more conventional approach is adopted however, in Kathak Yatra, The Kathak Dance Festival, celebrating the rich dance heritage of North India and Pakistan.
