Ive opted out of the rat race, Ive put my slippers under the awning Yvonne and Ron seem to have it all. A comfortable life, a pristine marriage, three teenage daughters, and a spanking new caravan on a perfect pitch in Scarborough. The trouble is Yvonne didnt want a caravan, she wanted a gte in France, but Ron had other ideas. Their peace is shattered by the arrival of slobby Grant and brassy Steph - The Grunts - who are as common as muck and whose sex life is rampant. They pitch their clapped out caravan next to the disgusted Yvonne and troubled ex-headmaster Ron whose practical skills are virtually non-existent.
Godbers dark comedy cuts to the quick of caravanning, contrasting the free spirits of Grant and Steph with starched fitness freak Yvonne and in-effective Ron. In an extraordinary turn of events, life for the middle class pair is never the same again
This Godber classic features James Hornsby (Men of the World, Hull Truck), Julie Higginson (Little Voice, Hull Truck) and Adrian Hood (Harvest, The Royal Court) and Kate Baines (UpnUnder, Hull Truck).
Godbers work remains an astute observation. There is always an air of uncomfortable tension floating around the laughs The Stage
