Seven years of support for The Lowry from Manchester Airports Group

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) shows its commitment to The Lowry by its continued support of the venue’s theatres programme, which includes its most ambitious project yet, King Cotton, penned by the award-winning Jimmy McGovern.

MAG has sponsored The Lowry every year since the venue opened in 2000, contributing towards growing the quality of its artistic programme. Welcoming the finest theatres companies to the North West region, The Lowry has also successfully established its exceptional international programme.

Olayinka Seriki, MAG’s Arts & Conferences Manager commented: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with The Lowry and support their ambitions as we continue to expand our business.”

Robert Robson, The Lowry’s Artistic director, commented: “We’re thrilled at MAG’s continued support of our mission to present some of the highest quality productions in the world. We are particularly proud to stage our very own production, King Cotton, which is the realisation of a long term ambition for The Lowry and has involved raising significant funds.”

MAG are keen for their employees to benefit from sponsorship and The Lowry has provided a number of free tickets for MAG staff to enjoy the world premiere of King Cotton next month (12 – 22 Sep).

With epic sweep and compelling music, King Cotton tells the story of the struggle to break free from poverty and slavery, seen through the eyes of Sokoto, a black slave working on an American cotton plantation and those of Tom, an impoverished mill-worker in the North West of England. It is set at the time of the American Civil War and the Lancashire cotton famine. King Cotton is also a co-commission with The Liverpool Culture Company and will show at The Liverpool Empire (25 – 29 Sep) after opening at The Lowry.

MAG benefits from branding opportunities, merchandising and hospitality for their staff and clients (all year round) at The Lowry, the award-winning performing and visual arts complex on Salford Quays.
