The ‘One and Only’ CHESNEY HAWKES, DARRENDAY and STEPHANIE DOOLEY (Emmerdale) visited Salford this week to get ready for the shenanigans of Dick Whittington which will light up The Lowry from Fri 7 Dec – 6 Jan.

Chesney makes his panto debut alongside a talented and glamorous cast in a tradition of spectacular festive entertainment at The Lowry.

Chesney’s career took off in 1991 when he starred in the film 'Buddy's Song' alongside Roger Daltrey and Michael Elphick. The soundtrack featured what would become one of the most instantly recognisable hits of the 90s. Released in 1991 ‘The One and Only’ stormed into the charts and catapulted Chesney to the Number 1 spot.

Written by Nik Kershaw, ‘The One and Only’ stayed at Number 1 for five weeks and remained in the charts for almost four months, making it one of the Top 20 best-selling singles of the decade.

Chesney is now a successful songwriter who has working with numerous artists and producers from a broad section of the industry including A1, Hear’Say and Tricky.

Top TV and West End star Darren Day will be the man they love to hate as the dastardly King Rat. Tamed by the spells of the fairy played by his off stage partner StephanieDooley, ex Emmerdale actor who played secretary Zara Baynard.

Dick Whittington goes to seek fame and fortune in the city of London, where, he is told, the streets are paved with gold. Picking his way through the good, the bad - and the ridiculous - Dick eventually overcomes all obstacles to find his sweetheart and finally become Lord Mayor of London.

With lavish costumes, energetic dance routines and stunning laser effects, this traditional tale of love and happiness has all the Christmas sparkle families have come to expect from pantomimes produced by The Lowry and Pele Productions.

Tickets are on sale now for Dick Whittington (Fri 7 Dec – 6 Jan) and with up to 2 children going half price with everyfull priced adult ticket, the very best family entertainment in the North West also provides really great value for money.
