Working with an opera company, drawing alongside a professional artist and taking part in a fun-packed musical showcase are just a few of the opportunities for North West youngsters at The Lowry this summer.

Summer School runs over a two-week period with four week-long workshops. Hansel and Gretel Theatre and Drawing Technics take place in week one, while week two features Art and Craft and Let us Entertain You.

The children will create a magical performance of Hansel and Gretel by working with Tinderbox Artists Hannah Conway and Karen Gillingham. The creative duo who have worked on projects with orchestras, opera houses and arts organisations will encourage children to experience the fun of being creative.

There is an opportunity to join professional artist Nicola Lynch for a week of creative fun in Drawing Techniques. Those taking part can learn top tips, experiment with materials, draw people and even make art using household objects and body parts! At the end of the week, there will be the chance for the kids to show off their creative talents in a special exhibition for family and friends.

Art and Craft Summer School encourages children to take part in new and imaginative ways of making art from painting and drawing to working in clay and textiles. With a different artist every day there will be something to inspire everyone, culminating in a final exhibition at the end of the week.

Let Us Entertain You gets young people involved in scenes from popular musicals for a fun packed musical showcase. The week will include sessions in dance, acting and singing with Jeff Borradaile one of the North West’s leading Choir Masters.
