So You Want to be an Artist?
The Lowry, Until Sun 2 November 2008
As the Summer holidays come to an end, what better way to spend the drizzliest of days than a family visit to The Lowry. Youngsters can create their own artwork as part of a new hands-on family exhibition, So You Want to be an Artist? before a spellbinding evening at the theatre watching the magical circus show, Le Grand Cirque.
Le Grand Cirque features a stunning cast of 50 world-class jugglers, acrobats and high wire artists performing white-knuckle stunts and heart pounding spectacles. The show has wowed over 10 million people worldwide with its beautiful costumes, dynamic lighting and some of the greatest international talent ever assembled on stage. This award-winning show was Sydney Opera House’s fastest sell out in history and visits The Lowry from Wed 27 – Sun 31 August.
Alongside the Lowry Favourites exhibition in the galleries is So You Want to be an Artist?, an interactive exhibition that allows visitors to see all the places which inspired Lowry and have a go at painting them themselves. Budding artists will find out about colour and how it can bring their drawings to life. They can paint in the ‘danger zone’ area, sit astride the donkey easels and practice ‘Life drawing’ with a mannequin, learn about framing, relax with some children’s art books and then exhibit their work for everyone to see.
The Lowry offers family friendly menus in its café, bar and restaurant.
