Mr Scruff's Music Baby! is funky fun
No kidding! Mr Scruff’s Music Baby is funky fun
Music Baby!
The Lowry, Salford Quays, Greater Manchester
Sun 7 Sept
Sun 5 Oct
Sun 2 Nov
The first dance party for under-5’s at The Lowry, Music Baby!, left toddlers asking for more – and that’s what North West youngsters will get when Mr Scruff and friends take to the decks next month.
The three hour afternoon day-party promises to be both educational and fun as Mr Scruff and his vinyl friends take parents back to the heady days, when the kids weren’t the only reason they were awake at 5am. As for the playlist, think Minnie Riperton instead of the Macarena and classic Sesame Street rather than Tellytubbies. To a backdrop of visuals, babies will be encouraged to boogie by a dance teacher with specially created games. As well as a buggy park there will also be food and a bar available in a special comfy space.
Stockport-born Mr Scruff who got his first DJ break in 1994 at Manchester’s Dry Bar is now known internationally as a DJ, producer, cartoonist and tea drinker.
Gary McClarnan, Scruff’s manager and co-organiser of Music Baby!, commented:
“A lot of the fans who got into Mr Scruff years ago now have kids and when The Lowry approached us we thought it would be great to set something up for those ex-clubbing fans and their families. For years teachers have told us they have incorporated Mr Scruff’s music into play sessions at school and that the young ones love the artwork he creates. It’s a clubbing event for the every generation of music lovers. Come along, join in, throw a few shapes and show your offspring that you’re not past it just yet!”
