A classroom within The Lowry’s state of the art Community & Education suite will become The Carole Nash Classroom, following a major donation from the Altrincham-based businesswoman. This is one of the most significant gifts from an individual donor in the organisation's history.

Named after Carole Nash, a motorcycle insurance pioneer and founder of Carole Nash Insurance, this classroom is the FIRST space within The Lowry to be named after a major supporter.

To mark the occasion, The Lowry has organized for Carole Nash’s four grandchildren and their classes from two different schools (Pownall Hall School in Wilmslow and Forest School in Hale) to participate in a visual arts workshop in the classroom named after their benefactor grandmother. The official naming ceremony takes place on Monday 17 November and will be led by Felicity Goodey CBE, The Lowry's Lifelong President.

Stephen Crocker, The Lowry’s Development Director, said: “Carole’s donation is testament to her commitment to supporting and developing young people as well as her love of the arts. We are absolutely thrilled that she has chosen to support The Lowry in this way and I’m delighted to welcome her to The Lowry family.”

Award-winning and spectacular, The Lowry’s theatres, galleries, classrooms and studios are enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The Lowry is proud of its achievements to date, but has many more important and ambitious plans, particularly as the venue approaches its tenth birthday in 2010.

One way to help The Lowry to achieve this is to name a space at The Lowry, publicly celebrating your association with this dynamic and popular organisation. A room or space can be named in acknowledgement of a family or company, or as a unique memorial to a loved one.

The Lowry Centre Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation and registered charity (no. 1053962). All income supports our world-class Theatres programme, the care and display of the L S Lowry Collection and a range of exhibitions and our life-changing Community and Education work.
