April press nights at The Lowry

This April The Lowry’s dynamic spring programme of dance continues with the latest from Birmingham Royal Ballet. It’s a month of powerful drama with Be Near Me from Donmar Warehouse and the National Theatre of Scotland. A quest filled with fantastical creatures comes to life in His Dark Materials from Birmingham Repertory Theatre Company in association with West Yorkshire Playhouse.

Thu 2 April - Birmingham Royal Ballet, Sylvia Leo Délibes- 7.30pm, Lyric
This eagerly anticipated revival of the classic ballet features a beautiful score and a colourful cast of Gods and Goddesses, slave girls and pirates.

Fri 3 April - Ronnie Burkett Theatre of Marionettes, Billy Twinkle, Requiem for a Golden Boy – 8pm, Quays
Ronnie Burkett’s latest incredible marionette creation for adults is the story of a middle-aged cruise ship puppeteer forced to rekindle his youthful passion for his work.

Wed 8 April - LazyTown Live! - The Pirate Adventure – 5pm, Lyric
It’s swashbuckling fun for all the family in this high-energy show full of power-moves, sing-along songs, parrots, pieces of eight and buried treasure.

Thu 9 April - Stones In His Pockets – 8pm, Quays
The award-winning West End comedy about a Hollywood film studio descending on rural Ireland returns, with two actors bringing 15 extraordinary characters to life.

Tue 14 April - Hull Truck Theatre Company, Lucky Sods – 8pm, Quays

In Nicholas Wright’s triumphant two-part adaptation of Philip Pullman’s three novels, Lyra and Will embark on a great quest filled with fantastical creatures.

Tue 28 April – A Donmar Warehouse and National Theatre of Scotland co-production, Be Near Me – 8pm, Quays
Adapted from The Booker Prize nominated novel, this lyrical story follows a lonely priest to a dispirited Scottish town, where he befriends two unstable teenage boys.
