Press night events in June

TV faces Wayne Sleep and Samantha Barks star in iconic musical, Cabaret at The Lowry. Dance company in residence, Company Chameleon, are introduced with a preview of two of their works, Rites and Before night fell. Opera North bring a new production by Mozart, The Abduction from the Seraglio, as well as two revivals of Don Carlos and Paradise Moscow.

Mon 1 June - Kellerman – 8pm, Quays
This tale of obsessive desire explores how meddling with the past can have dangerous consequences, as one man struggles to come to terms with a tragedy.

Tue 2 June - Opera North, The Abduction from the Seraglio – 7.15pm, Lyric
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
New Production.
A labour of love for Mozart, this touching comedy explores culture clashes as two men attempt to rescue their lovers from a harem.

Wed 3 June - Opera North, Don Carlos – 7.15pm, Lyric
Giuseppe Verdi
Verdi’s most ambitious work is one of opera’s towering masterpieces, and Opera North’s visually sumptuous production is now itself a classic too.

Thu 4 June - Opera North, Paradise Moscow – 7.15pm, Lyric
Dimtry Shostakovich
This blackly comic and provocative new duet looks at how the future will make sense of us. Are they all-knowing or clueless?

Tue 9 June - A Midsummer Night’s Dream – 8pm, Quays
Wed 10 June - The Merchant of Venice – 8pm, Quays
A Propeller production by The Watermill Theatre in association with the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse
By William Shakespeare. Directed by Edward Hall.
Innovative Shakespeare company Propellor return with two contrasting masterpieces – the bitingly modern Merchant of Venice, and their multi-award-winning A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Tue 16 June - The Dance Consortium, Nederlands Dans Theater 2 – 7.30pm, Lyric
Firm favourites with British audiences, NDT2’s energetic young dancers, none of them older than 23, love showing off their incredible technical skills. Don’t miss them!

Fri 19 June - Company Chameleon – 8pm, Studio
Long-time collaborators Anthony Missen and Kevin Turner present two works: Rites, which examines what shapes a man, and Before night fell, a new work exploring male camaraderie.

Mon 22 June – Cabaret – 7.30pm, Lyric
Starring Wayne Sleep and Samantha Barks (I’d Do Anything) and featuring show-stopping choreography, dazzling costumes and some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre.

Mon 22 June - Women on the Verge of HRT - 8pm, Quays
By Marie Jones
Daniel O’Donnell fans Vera and Anna confront the harsh realities of being the ‘wrong’ side of 40 in this hilarious, feisty and sometimes painful play.
