WIN A DAY AT THE RSC IN STRATFORD-UPON-AVON

REACT TO ROY WILLIAMS’ PLAY, DAYS OF SIGNIFICANCE AND SPEND A DAY WITH THE RSC

The Royal Shakespeare Company is bringing Roy Williams’ acclaimed and blisteringly topical new play, Days of Significance to The Lowry between Tue 24 -Sat 28 November. As part of the visit, the company is asking for people to give their responses to the play with the chance of winning a day at the RSC’s world famous home in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Days of Significance is a frank and brutal examination of urban culture at the start of the 21st Century. In a city centre the lads are on the beer and the girls are on the pull. Their cocky bravado, flirting and fighting masks a real fear – two of their number will soon be called up to Iraq.

Playwright Roy Williams said: “I was bored seeing plays that dealt with the war on terror from the point of view of the people in power. I wanted to write a piece that dealt with how it affects people who are further down the food chain.”

Anyone who wants to take part in the competition needs to make a video no longer than 3 minutes in length that illustrates their thoughts on the issues raised in the play. Entrants should then post the response on the play’s youtube site at:

Entrants must be aged 18 or over and live in the UK. The winner and a friend will be able to go behind the scenes at the RSC’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford, have lunch in the actors’ Greenroom, and meet some of the departments who drive the company’s distinctive approach to theatre-making.

The deadline for entries is Friday 4 December 2009.
