January and February see The Lowry celebrate the start of its 10th birthday year in style, with a host of stars and exciting new shows guaranteed to banish the post-Christmas blues. Stephen Mallatratt’s spine-tingling West End classic The Woman In Black starts the year with a bang, followed by spectacular stunts from The Chinese State Circus, dynamic, diverse dance in Akram Khan’s bahok and heart-warming comedy as Lynda Bellingham and Letitia Dean star in the ever-popular Calendar Girls.

Wed 27 Jan – Chinese State Circus – 7pm, Lyric
An exhilarating new production featuring world-class martial arts warriors and acrobats alongside contortionists, bicycle balancers and a stunning performance of the Lion Dance.
Thu 4 Feb - Pepa Pig’s Party – 4pm, Quays
It’s Peppa Pig's birthday, so come and join the fun in this charming and imaginative show featuring magical puppets, which is full of songs, muddy puddles and oinks!
Thu 4 Feb – bahok – 7.30pm, Lyric
This hotly anticipated work features a score by Nitin Sawhney and explores how the body can express a sense of national identity and cultural belonging.
Tue 9 Feb – Scattered (Motionhouse) – 8pm, Quays
Bungees, aerial harnesses, physical dance theatre and projection technology combine in this mesmerising production exploring the human relationship with water.
Tue 9 Feb – Calendar Girls – 7.30pm, Lyric
Based on a true story about a group of ordinary women who pose for a charity calendar, the West End hit returns for one final season.
Mon 15 Feb – Die Fledermaus – 8pm, Quays
A sparkling score and saucy story make this new production of one of the ‘Waltz King’s’ most famous operettas truly unmissable!
Mon 22 Feb – Jus’ Like That – 8pm, Quays
Clive Mantle (Casualty, Holby City, The Vicar of Dibley) stars as the legendary comedian in this genuinely funny and affectionate show.
Tue 23 Feb – Opera North – La Bohème – 7.30pm, Lyric
Can Rodolfo reach his old flame before it is too late? Directed by Phyllida Lloyd (Mamma Mia!), this production of Puccini's masterpiece is not to be missed!
Wed 24 Feb – Opera North – Ruddigore – 7.30pm, Lyric
Gilbert and Sullivan's witty pastiche of Victorian melodrama is given Opera North’s distinctive freshness of approach in this ingenious new production.
Thu 25 Feb Opera North – Cosi Fan Tutte – 7.30pm, Lyric
This story of loyalty and desire resonates as strongly today as it did in 1789, with a score containing some of Mozart's most dazzlingly beautiful music.
*Please note that La Cage Aux Folles, scheduled to appear at The Lowry from 15 March, has now been cancelled.
