The Lowry’s Chief Executive awarded an OBE

The Lowry is delighted to announce that Julia Fawcett, Chief Executive of the visual and performing arts venue, was awarded an OBE for services to the Arts in the Queen’s 2010 New Year Honours list.

Julia Fawcett joined The Lowry in June 2002 as Chief Executive and has responsibility for ensuring the successful operation of one of the largest Millennium projects in the UK. Set in the heart of Greater Manchester's waterways, The Lowry combines three theatres; galleries displaying the works of L S Lowry alongside other artists; as well as gift shop, restaurants and bars.

Originally from Ordsall in Salford, Julia joined The Lowry with a wealth of experience in the industry, and impeccable operational credentials. Previously, Julia was Chief Executive of Dynamic Earth Enterprises Ltd – having joined the company in December 1997 as Chief Executive - at the age of 32.

Rod Aldridge, Chairman of The Lowry Trustees said,

The Lowry's enterprise is to open the door to enjoyment and enrichment for all, through high quality delivery of a broad range of arts, entertainment and life long learning, a vision that Julia continues to reflect and advocate on a daily basis.”

The Lowry presents an award-winning programme of events in its theatres and galleries, bringing international quality arts and entertainment to the region. It starts its tenth anniversary year with the biggest box office success ever to be staged at The Lowry, White Christmas, the musical starring Aled Jones and Suzanne Shaw which sold more than 77,000 tickets.
