NQR

Tue 23 & Wed 24 March, 2010

Press night: Tue 23 March, 8pm

Scottish Dance Theatre, Scotland’s national contemporary dance company, explores the human condition and what it is to be alive in the world today, in two new works NQR and The Life and Times of Girl.

Not Quite Right is an acronym used in old medical records to describe unexplained difference. NQR is a chance to look at and think about difference, differently. It examines our irrepressible eccentricities that defy all our attempts to fit into the mold. Nine performers, two wheelchairs and a live cellist circumnavigate NQR’s perimeter and try to break in.

Ben Duke’s The Life and Times of Girl A tells the story of a woman trying to tell us something about what is happening now. What she needs is a film crew and a financier, what she’s got is a stage and some dancers. Duke’s work highlights those moments we all have of emotional and financial crisis – when all we need is to use less to say more.

NRQ  is a three way collaboration between SDT Artistic Director, Janet Smith, SDT’s Dance Agent for Change, Caroline Bowditch and Marc Brew, Associate Director Fellow. The work is designed by Naomi Wilkinson and the soundtrack is composed by Robin Mason and David Paul Jones. Design is by Naomi Wilkinson and the soundtrack is composed by Robin Mason and David Paul Jones.
