The Lowry calls for Doris Day fans to sing in a community choir

The Lowry is calling for singers who are fans of Doris Day to attend an informal meeting on Wed 6 April, 6.30pm - 7.30pm with a view to taking part in a community choir, which will perform on stage in LipService’s hit show, Desperate to be Doris.

From students to pensioners, anyone aged over 18 can engage in this fun musical opportunity, even without any previous singing experience. This is a great opportunity for everyone to join in and work with an award-winning company on a professional production. Participants do not need to sight read music but need to commit to 9 workshops and a week of performance in June.

LipService in association with The Lowry presents Desperate to be Doris from Wed 22 – Sat 25 June. All good musicals traditionally need casts of thousands, so the show’s leading ladies will be backed by a flamboyant chorus from The Lowry, specially recruited for this production.

The hilarious duo, currently celebrating 25 years of silliness, present their outrageous homage to musical icon Doris Day, which features a selection of the diva of the duster’s greatest hits like you’ve never heard them before. Desperate to be Doris follows successful visits from LipService, with Move Over Moriarty and The Best Bits of LipService.

Interested parties must attend the initial choir meetingat The Lowry on Wednesday 6 April. If you would like to join the Doris chorus and shout your secret love from the highest hill please email projects@thelowry.com for more information.
