Your Access Requirements
The Lowry is an accessible space.
We have 4 wheelchairs (3 manual and 1 motorised) available for hire free of charge. These can be booked through Box Office on 0870 787 5796. We advise wheelchair users inform the Box Office when booking tickets for a theatre event in order to ensure all seating requirements are met.
There is a passenger drop-off point immediately in front of The Lowry. Secure parking is available in the Lowry Outlet Mall car park, which also has designated areas for disabled people on each level.
We recommend that Blue Badge holders enter the car park at the entrance near the mini roundabout on the road leading from The Quays as this will allow parking on the ground floor level. For more information on disabled parking please contact the Lowry Outlet Mall Customer relations desk on 0161 848 1850.
The Lowry building has lifts, accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities. All floors are accessible by wheelchair and wheelchairs are available on request.

Digital Hearing Aid Enhancement in the Theatres In order to enhance the sound in our theatres through your digital hearing aid, you need to ask for one of our neck loops from the Information Desk. Your hearing aid must also have been pre-programmed by the supplier to work with the neck loop. If your digital hearing aid has been supplied by the NHS it will already have been pre-programmed however, if it is from a private supplier you will need to check with them to find out if it has been programmed to operate with an induction loop system.
So as to improve the experience of the hard of hearing when they visit The Lowry, Induction Loops are now in operation at the following locations.
· Information Desk. · Box Office. · Shop. · Gallery Desk. · Terrace Bar. · Quays Bar.
About Induction Loop Systems Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems are designed to work in conjunction with a hearing aid. They are not designed to replace the hearing aid and only work if the hearing aid is fitted with a ‘T’ switch. When the switch is in the ‘T’ position the hearing aid microphone is switched off and the user only hears the sound from the loop system.
A standard hearing aid will amplify all sounds and although this can assist in hearing, it does not help in an environment where there is significant background noise.
An Induction Loop system comprises of a microphone, amplifier and loop of wire. The microphone must be situated close to the speaker as this increases the level of the sound relative to background noise. The amplifier converts this sound into an electric current, which is driven through the loop of wire. The magnetic field from the loop is received by the hearing aid which converts it back to sound for the listener - with the switch in the ‘T’ position.
The key point to remember is that the hearing aid user hears what goes through the microphone - both the speaker's voice and any background noise. To benefit from an induction loop the speakers voice must ALWAYS be close to the microphone to ensure that it predominates over background noise.
