Head of Learning and Engagement

37.5 hours per week, £35,000-£40,000 per annum dependent upon experience plus staff benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Learning and Engagement to manage and lead The Lowry’s Learning and Engagement team (L&E) in the successful delivery of the Learning & Engagement strategy, connecting with The Lowry’s wider artistic objectives and programmes, working with and for a diverse range of children, young people and communities.

You will be responsible for leading the delivery of The Lowry's youth and community work across Salford and the North West ensuring that all activities, projects and programmes delivered by the Learning & Engagement team are high quality, accessible, diverse and appropriate in their reach.

You will have excellent communication and networking skills and a background in the arts sector. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the educational, employment and social care needs of communities, young people and ‘harder to reach’ groups and will have experience of managing teams of people.

Kitchen Porter

40 hours per week, £16, 286.40 per annum, plus staff benefits

We are looking for a Kitchen Porter to work in our busy kitchen preparing and cleaning catering areas as directed, ensuring consistently high standards of hygiene and room presentation. 

The successful candidate will have experience in a cleaning or portering position. You should be to follow written and verbal instructions and also to work independently. Experience of working within a similar catering and/or visitor attraction venue is desirable. We would also prefer candidates to be trained in C.O.S.H.H. and Lifting and Handling.

Volunteer for us

The Lowry operates one of the largest volunteer programmes of any cultural venue in the country. It has been an integral part of The Lowry’s Front of House operation since we first opened our doors in April 2000.

The primary role of the VIPs is to provide excellent customer service to The Lowry’s theatre patrons. They act as ushers and fire marshals for the venue’s three theatre spaces, sell programmes and merchandise, provide a cloakroom service and assist in other operational duties as required by the Front of House management team. 

They also act as ambassadors for The Lowry, promoting the artistic programme and our learning and engagement work within their own networks and on behalf of the organisation at promotional events. 

Recruitment for VIPs takes place once a year, usually in the spring. Application details will appear below during that process.

We're looking for Volunteers!

The Lowry hosts an array of top quality touring productions from work by the RSC, Birmingham Royal Ballet, The National Theatre and Opera North to some of UK’s best stand-up comedians and singers. The Lowry also hire our smaller theatres to local dramatic and coral societies and other community groups. In addition to the theatre shows, we sometimes require volunteers to assist on promotional events for our Marketing Department as well as assisting on outdoor activities on The Quays through Quays Culture events.

Interviews this year will be held on Monday 2 July 2018 with time slots between 11am and 6pm. 

If successful, you will be required to attend an induction and training day on Sunday 22 July 2017. Registration is from 9.30am and the training will conclude at approx. 4pm. 

Please note that you must be available for the interview day as well as the induction/training day.
