Based on the British Book Awards Biography of the Year, ‘Toast’ is the story of Nigel Slater’s childhood, told through the tastes and smells he grew up with. From making the perfect sherry trifle to waging a war over cakes and from the pressured playground politics of sweets to the rigid rules of restaurant dining, this is a story of love, loss and…toast.
Written by Henry Filloux-Bennett. Directed by Jonnie Riordan.
Run time: 2 hours 30 minutes with an interval.

Toast Pre-Theatre Menu
To celebrate Week 53 and The Lowry’s production of Nigel Slater’s ‘Toast’, Pier Eight and Nigel Slater have been working together to create a unique pre-theatre menu inspired by some of the dishes in the book. This pre-theatre menu will be on offer from 17 May to 2 June.
