Join us for a breathtaking exploration of life, love, and identity, as we raise the curtain on the ten exceptional playwrights whose brand-new short plays have been selected by Hive North as part of OutStageUs 2023.

From over 150 submissions Hive North have carefully curated a collection of narratives that will enlighten, engage, and move you. OutStageUs is more than just a night of theatre – it is an important platform for new LGBTQ+ voices that resonates powerfully with the ever-evolving dynamics of our society.

This year’s selection promises a multifaceted portrayal of the LGBTQ+ experience. From the candid exploration of cultural expectations in British Indian families in Rav Bansal’sDeranged‘, to the profound struggle of a transitioning non-binary person in KT Miles’If I Ever See Her Again‘, each story reflects a unique perspective of the community’s rich tapestry.

Experience the compelling dialogue about consent in Mitesh Soni’sTwenty‘, traverse through transient connections in Izzy Campbell’s ‘Out Out’, and plunge into the humorous exploration of erotic fantasies in Saskia Pay’sThe Sweet Shop Lament‘. Each tale brings with it a new understanding, a new revelation, and a new appreciation for the wide spectrum of the LGBTQ+ experience.

In addition, you’ll journey through the complex realm of dating and disability in Connor Cooper’sShrink/Grow‘, understand the delicate intersection of societal expectations and self-acceptance in Roo Pilkington’s ‘A Second Chance’, and navigate the nuances of asexuality in Luke Elliott’sThe Right One‘. From the fierce resilience of a young trans man in Rian Craske’s2545‘, to the thoughtful reflection on changing spaces for the LGBTQ+ community in Lel Meleyal’sFrom Kray to Crone‘, each play leaves an indelible mark.

Every voice matters. Every story counts.

Experience the vibrancy, celebrate the diversity, and immerse yourself in the stories that shape the LGBTQ+ narrative at OutStageUs 2023!
