Edit. 02: thread

The latest in The Lowry's programme of artist projects and collaborations, Edit. 02 features a new textile artist collaboration. > thread { }.
  • Venue: The Lowry Galleries
For most people, computer coding, textile printing and heart rate monitors are not obvious allies but for >Thread {} they are.

Edit.02 sees this Salford-based collective collaborate with a group of young people who will participate in a week of socially engaged workshops at Islington Mill before having their biodata transformed into an immersive installation of projections, sounds and fabrics.

By combining and sharing their expertise with each other and our audiences, Thread’s Cheryl O’Meara, Sally Gilford and Vicky Clarke will use a mixture of innovative digital and manual techniques to turn the young people’s data and stories into a large quilt and surrounding visuals – not what you might expect from ‘textile art’!

The whole process will be documented in our galleries and you will even have the chance to make your own bio-art. Come and immerse yourself and see what your own bio-data looks like.

This is textile-making, but not as you know it.

Free Entry.
