Dance taster festival Dance: Sampled will tour to The Lowry on Sat 17 February. Visitors to the festival will be able to watch some of the biggest names in the business and take part in a variety of free workshops throughout the building.
Visitors will be able to get involved in a variety of workshops including Hip Hop, Lindy Hop, Tap, Salsa and Flamenco. The workshops will be tailored to a range of abilities allowing visitors of all ages and experience to get involved.
Activities are free but visitors will need to book places on the workshops in advance, with a limited amount of tickets available on the day.
Tickets will be available online from Fri 26 January.
As well as the opportunity to participate in an array of free workshops and foyer activities across the day visitors can also watch performances from professional dancers.
The Lowry’s Lyric stage will be home to a series of bite-size performances from some of the biggest names in dance, from classical ballet to hip hop, contemporary and flamenco. The programme of bite-sized excerpts are an opportunity for audiences experience a broad range of dance at affordable prices, with tickets available for just £10 for adults and £5 for children.
The 2018 programme line-up includes performances from Scotland’s national dance company Scottish Ballet, one of the world’s biggest flamenco stars Jesus Carmona, a collection of dance artists led by Botis Seva performing a theatrical take on hip hop, krump and breaking and winner of BBC Young Dancer 2017, Nafisah Baba..
Also part of the dance bill, following previous successful runs at The Lowry, will be Vicki Igbokwe: The Headwrap Diaries, an uplifting blend of club styles fused with African and comtempory dance, and Gandini Juggling: Smashed, a mesmerising mix of circus and theatre.
Humanhood completes the line up with an extract from their first full length duet Zero- a powerful piece with immersive sound, hypnotising lights and contemporary movement.

And as the home of dance in the North West, it is a pleasure to host Sampled. It is a wonderful celebration of dance that offers visitors of all abilities a unique opportunity to trial a new style and could perhaps be in the inspiration behind learning a new skill.”
