Pupils taking part will be supported to:

  • Develop and refine creative ideas through practical exploration. Pupils generate, ideas and original material using devising techniques such as improvisation, stimuli, and rehearsal strategies.
  • Use voice, movement, and characterisation to communicate meaning. Pupils apply physical and vocal skills to convey intention, atmosphere, and narrative to an audience.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of an ensemble. Pupils negotiate ideas, take creative risks, respond to others’ contributions, and take responsibility within group performance work.
  • Understand and apply drama conventions and techniques. Experiment with form, structure, and style (e.g. symbolism, physical theatre, narration) to enhance performance impact.
  • Reflect, evaluate, and respond thoughtfully to drama work. Pupils analyse their own and others’ performances using appropriate subject vocabulary, supporting critical thinking and artistic development.
