EXPRESSION OF INTEREST: HAVE YOUR WORK PROFESSIONALLY PHOTOGRAPHED
Deadline for proposals: Wednesday 17th June 2026, 5pm
While the Lowry galleries are in-between exhibitions, we are offering gallery space and covering the costs for 6 artists to have their work professionally photographed.
This expression of interest is aimed at artists in Greater Manchester who do not have access to space and resources to document their work professionally, and would benefit from advice and having a number of works photographed professionally in a gallery environment.
We are offering slots across one day for artists to meet with Manchester based photographer Michael Pollard in the Lowry galleries. Michael is a hugely experienced professional photographer with over 25 years experience, specialising in photography for the arts and heritage sectors. Michael will discuss your work with you and suggest best approaches to documenting your work. Michael will photograph your work (number of works will be determined by the nature of the work- roughly up to 5 works); he will edit and share high res images with you.
This opportunity is not assigned first come, first serrved. Artists will be chosen by Contemporary Curator Zoe Watson on a priority needs basis.
PLEASE NOTE:
- You will need to be responsible for bringing your work to Lowry galleries for photographing on the day. We cannot store the work on the premises before or after the photography day.
- We can help install the work on the wall and we have a technician and tools on site to support with this; the hang will need to be straighforward. There is also gallery space to photograph sculpture on the floor or plints are available.
- The gallery is lit by natural sky lights and track lighting. There are no low level light spaces available.
KEY DATES:
- Deadline for applications: Wednesday 17th June, 5pm
- All artists will be notified by: Friday 19th June
- Photography date: Friday 26th May, 9am-6pm (you will receive an individual allotted time)
